A considered, evidence-informed approach to hair and scalp health

The Hair & Scalp Clinic was created to support people who are experiencing changes in their hair or scalp and want clear, professional guidance – without fear, guesswork, or unrealistic promises.

Many people notice changes such as increased shedding, thinning, reduced density, or scalp discomfort and aren’t sure where to turn. Online information can be overwhelming, contradictory, or overly medical, while salon advice often focuses on appearance rather than underlying patterns.

The Hair & Scalp Clinic exists to bridge that gap.

Our focus is on assessment, understanding, and appropriate support, grounded in current knowledge of hair growth, scalp health, and common contributing factors such as hormonal change, stress, and physiological disruption.

Why the clinic was established

The clinic grew out of decades of hands-on experience working closely with women and their hair. Over time, it became clear that many concerns couldn’t be solved with styling or products alone.

Clients were asking deeper questions:

  • Why is my hair shedding now?
  • Is this temporary or ongoing?
  • Is it hormonal, stress-related, or something else?
  • What actually makes sense for my situation?

The Hair & Scalp Clinic was created to provide space for those questions to be explored properly – with time, care, and professional insight.

A calm alternative to panic-driven hair advice

Hair changes are often emotionally charged. For many people, they affect confidence, identity, and wellbeing.

The clinic’s approach is deliberately calm and measured. We don’t diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medication, or promise instant results. Instead, we focus on:

  • Careful hair and scalp assessment
  • Identifying patterns consistent with known causes
  • Explaining what those patterns may mean in plain language
  • Supporting hair and scalp health where appropriate
  • Recommending medical referral when needed

This ensures clients feel informed and supported, rather than rushed or alarmed.

Who the clinic is for

The Hair & Scalp Clinic supports people at many stages of life, particularly those experiencing:

  • Hair shedding or thinning with no clear explanation
  • Hormonal-related hair changes (including perimenopause and menopause)
  • Stress-related or post-illness shedding
  • Changes in hair density, texture, or growth behaviour
  • Scalp discomfort or ongoing scalp concerns
  • Confusion about whether hair changes are temporary or ongoing

Many clients arrive without a diagnosis – and that’s completely okay. Assessment is often the first step in gaining clarity.

Our role – and our boundaries

The Hair & Scalp Clinic plays a supportive and complementary role in hair health care.

We:

  • Assess hair and scalp health
  • Identify patterns consistent with recognised conditions
  • Provide supportive care and monitoring
  • Work ethically within our scope

We do not:

  • Diagnose medical conditions
  • Prescribe medication
  • Advise on starting or stopping medical treatments

When medical input may be appropriate, we encourage clients to work with their GP or specialist. Collaboration – not replacement – is key.

Experience, environment, and continuity of care

The Hair & Scalp Clinic operates within the trusted environment of The Cutting Room, a well-established salon with a long-standing reputation for professionalism, inclusivity, and care.

This shared space allows clients to benefit from:

  • A welcoming, familiar setting
  • A team deeply experienced in working with hair
  • Continuity between hair health support and ongoing hair care

While the clinic and salon have distinct roles, they share a commitment to helping clients feel supported, understood, and respected.

A people-first philosophy

At the heart of the Hair & Scalp Clinic is a simple belief:

People deserve clear information, honest guidance, and realistic expectations when it comes to their hair.

No pressure.
No fear-based messaging.
No one-size-fits-all answers.

Just thoughtful assessment, evidence-informed support, and care that makes sense for the individual.

About Cassandra

Experience-led care, grounded in ongoing education

Cassandra brings decades of hands-on experience working closely with hair, clients, and the changes people notice over time. Her career has always been driven by a desire to understand not just how hair looks, but how it behaves – and why it changes.

Over many years in the industry, Cassandra noticed a growing pattern. Clients weren’t just asking for styling solutions – they were seeking answers. They wanted to understand increased shedding, thinning, scalp discomfort, and changes that didn’t respond to products or cuts alone.

This curiosity, combined with her long-standing commitment to client care, led Cassandra to undertake formal education in trichology – the study of hair and scalp health.

A thoughtful, ethical approach to hair and scalp care

Cassandra’s approach is deliberately measured. She does not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe treatment. Instead, she focuses on assessment, education, and support – helping clients understand what may be influencing their hair and when medical input may be appropriate.

Clients often describe feeling relieved after their appointment – not because everything has a simple answer, but because the information finally makes sense.

This combination of experience, education, and ethical boundaries is at the core of how the Hair & Scalp Clinic operates.

Why trichology matters

Trichology focuses on understanding hair growth, the scalp environment, and the many factors that can influence hair behaviour, including hormonal change, stress, health events, and lifestyle influences.

Through her trichology studies, Cassandra has deepened her ability to:

  • Assess hair and scalp health methodically
  • Recognise patterns consistent with common hair and scalp conditions
  • Explain hair changes clearly and calmly
  • Support clients without overstepping into medical diagnosis

Importantly, trichology education complements Cassandra’s practical experience rather than replacing it.

It adds structure, language, and evidence-informed frameworks to what she has observed throughout her career.

A safe place to ask questions that don’t get answered elsewhere

For many people, hair changes feel deeply personal and surprisingly emotional. Cassandra understands this, and creates an environment where questions are welcomed, concerns are taken seriously, and nothing is dismissed as “just cosmetic.”

Whether someone is at the beginning of noticing change or has been living with uncertainty for years, the focus is always the same:

  • Listen carefully
  • Assess thoroughly
  • Explain clearly
  • Support realistically
